Some people may think that the ownership of this domain was done to just be petty. The reality is I have owned this domain for several years. It was originally purchased for $12 a year as a teachable moment for the IT Department.

When the Mineral County School District changed to their current site, the first thing I did was question if they purchased other derivatives of it. I was advised that wasn’t necessary. I very specifically told them a little about my background.

You see in Colorado, I worked at a non-profit where I was actually part of a cyber security team to help small businesses avoid hacking and hijacking. Domain control is one of those checkboxes to keep sites from encroaching on your brand because there is very little recourse to it.

Furthermore, they were told that I was also the one that taught small and medium businesses about web design. I would teach them how to leverage their pages to get more visibility through search engine optimization (SEO). Apparently, I knew nothing of the internet and the IT department had munched up significant dollars on travel so they would know better.

I purchased the domain and waited for 2 years to see if they would approach me to get it released. The IT team was too lazy to ever figure out there was a potential imposter site. Not once did anyone mention it. I guess they were too busy snatching printers, revoking access, and intentionally messing with my work computer to do their actual job.

The reason I developed this page as the blog is because what better way for me to get search engine optimization, potential traffic, and visibility than to develop an asset I already owned. I certainly would not gift Andre Ponder a penny, let alone a domain and why should I have to buy another domain when this one is so perfect? As you can see the answer is would be a fool not to utilize something I already owned for a number of years, when will get me closer and perhaps at some point morally absent people will be brought to justice.
