When I began working at the Mineral County School District, I certainly had zero idea that the systematic problems were nearly as severe as they were. I had always heard things, but figured was just rural gossip. I also had a false sense of security that the State of Nevada was actively engaged in ensuring students received a decent education, and that illegal things didn’t happen with their dollars.

What I ultimately found is most State workers are actually very nice people, but often overworked. They are also not always used to working with corruption at the level that occurs at Mineral County School District. They inherently don’t believe people like Hope Blinco and Andre Ponder would intentionally lie about what is running through the ground source system. That is especially true when their intentional lies actually harms them because it prevents getting the assistance needed to fix the system.

Most State of Nevada workers will accept new information, but they don’t have the resources to chase down the paperwork to provide whether something is factual or not, with a default position of why would someone tell that significant of a lie. Having spent thousands of man hours compiling, requesting, and following up I found that a non-profit is likely the only way that the concerns will ever resolve

It is primarily about the students and staff that are being harmed by the mold and dangerous ground source system. I will ultimately be okay as I can litigate and get indemnified for the physical harm and mental harm that was intentionally inflicted on me by both Hope Blinco and Andre Ponder, but the staff and students don’t have the same avenue.

They don’t have the same avenue because they either have no clue the issue exists, or they know going against Hope Blinco will result in something similar to the illegal employment practices she pulled on me like cutting my pay without warning. It is not reasonable to expect that most people can risk their livelihood or kids education when against a professional conwoman.

I personally believe that the community deserves better. My ethical standards require that when I know about something, I spend whatever energy or resources I have to make it right. I also believe that just because someone like Hope Blinco and Andre Ponder have made a career out of unethical behavior, that doesn’t mean they should be allowed to continue that pattern. I am certain they could careless about litigation because just as in the past, they aren’t the ones that pay the bill when comes due.

A non-profit structure allows me to fully invest in transparency and exposing all of the truth, without the stipulation that it turns a profit. Ethics shouldn’t be a money making venture, it is the right thing to do.
