I waited to blog on this because I thought maybe with the explosion of staffing at the District level things would change. I know know that they have not changed one bit. The staff remains held hostage by Hope Blinco.
You see it is not that difficult to generate W-2s in the system. In reality is a couple day process to do it. It isn’t a system limitation that delays the W-2s year after year. The W-2s are intentionally delayed as part of a classic power trip that the Human Resource Manager is always on.
I was directly told by the Human Resource Manager that she doesn’t do them any earlier than has to because she got irritated people asked where it was. Her resolution was to mail them at the last minute. I believe that to be true.
By now I have all my W-2s, 1099s for interest, dividends, and unemployment. the only W-2 I don’t have is one that is ultimately inconsequential. I find it interesting billion dollar companies can get their tax forms out long before the school. In fact, even federal employees got their W-2s by the 18th of January this year.
I think the intentional delays only further brings into question what is the benefit of having a payroll clerk? Since Hope Blinco isn’t overly burdened by having to pay people, shouldn’t the W-2s have occurred faster with a team of two instead of one? If this is the best they can do with two people, seems like the result would be the same with it being only person.
