I’ve learned that life rarely follows the map we draw for ourselves.

I grew up believing that if you worked hard, did the right things, and kept moving forward, eventually you’d arrive at the place you were meant to be. Somewhere along the way, I discovered that the road can take unexpected turns—through loss, change, family, difficult seasons, second chances, and moments that force you to reconsider where you’re headed.

That’s what this space is about.

I’m a writer and storyteller living in rural Nevada, and Porras-Grant.com is where I put some of those experiences into words. I write about family, foster care and adoption, small-town life, work, relationships, the places that shaped me, and the sometimes messy process of figuring out what comes next.

Some stories here are difficult. Some are funny. Some are about dreams that never quite worked out. Others are about discovering new dreams when you thought it was too late to start over.

I’m not writing because I have all the answers. I’m writing because I’ve learned that there can be something powerful in telling the truth about where you’ve been—and honest about where you are still trying to go.
