The one thing I can say for the Mineral County School District is that with a new Superintendent, things stopped deteriorating as quickly as it was previously. Outside looking in, my opinion is the status is at least stabilizing. Stable is the best case scenario.
Under different leadshership the school struck an iceberg and sent everyone frantically searching for lifeboats. One Superintendent ignored problems. Another one spent his entire tenure running away from problems and creating propaganda messages. It seems the current Superintendent is at least not afraid to confront issues.
There is still a long way to go, but since instead of a cruiseliner, the current Superintendent basically ended up with a leaky canoe we all must have some patience. It also isn’t feasbile to take on the problem staff right out the gate. Doing so would have caused more vacancies in a place where it is already challenging to find people that want to work there.
With time, the bad staff and contractors will likely be booted out, or reformed. Reformed would be an extremely lofty goal since you can’t remove bitter, spiteful, and unethical from most personalities. Time will tell if the current Superintendent is brought down by bad apples, or if they can make the appropriate changes to avoid set up scenarios that the former ones were doomed by.
