It is my understanding that budget committees are set to return to the Mineral County School District early this next year. Although it is an invaluable tool, be prepared for the stale, outdated, and false information of the infamous Diane Rodriguez, contractor. Look no further than the budget to see her signature is all over it in the details.

As is annual tradition, Diane shoved money all over the budget in pockets in the December augment. Sadly, it is the same thing she has done for a number of years. Every year she gets her wicked fingers on the budget, she manages to convince everyone the school is going broke.

I am sure it is no coincidence that the last Finance Manager had the audacity to allow for raises in the ending fund balance, and that has been stopped upon her return. The Former Superintendent and Diane Rodriguez had numerous conversations that they would simply drop the ending fund balance to the minimum to keep the “greedy teachers” from getting a raise in the future.

A lot of people may be wondering how I know it the hands of Diane Rodriguez on the budget, which is a fair question. The answer lies in the smaller details like her inability to format excel correctly. I do not believe for a second the current Finance Manager doesn’t know how to outline cells properly. It is also a very old form that the budget was placed upon. The fact the person who did it can’t even change a double underline to a single underline, or make sure all the boxes are uniform is the Scooby Doo clue that breaks the case of who did it.

I also know it was Diane Rodriguez and her Scrooge McDuck mentality based on her other formatting errors. In numerous places items are in an incorrect box, or are missing. That is something that I used to correct during almost my entire tenure there. I can’t blame her for being Scrooge McDuck because so far this school year it will have rained $36,000 on her with zero accountability, zero benchmarks, or zero performance standards. She does have an amazing welfare gig where she gets blank checks to hoover up funds from the staff and students.
