The School Board of Mineral County must use their professional development days to learn ninja tactics. I had never seen a group of people duck and weave like they managed to do on September 27, 2022. It was a real slap in the face to the community to watch them.
While it was surprising that the deadbeat known as Andre Ponder resigned, it was not overly surprising he would bail on his accountability to the community. Looking at his resume, it is pretty obvious that he enjoys running away when people catch onto what is basically a scam. He arrives in his thrift store suits, promises change, then runs around snapping selfies without doing a damn thing.
There was no reason for the board to not evaluate the coward. That becomes even more obvious when Andre Ponder was caught lying in the very meeting in which he resigned. Ponder tried to pull yet another one claiming that being compliant with special education last year meant they were still in compliance now. The reality is they just haven’t been caught out of compliance YET. It is almost a guarantee that Mineral County School District will be found in violation this school year do to his inaction and incompetence.
Mineral County deserved to be heard and have his evaluation completed. There was zero reason to not do the evaluation and then do a no action taken in light of the resignation, other than being cowards. The incompetence of Andre Ponder will most certainly have a lasting impact on the staff and students.
The staff was trapped with an abusive HR Manger and Superintendent for over a year. They deserve to be heard and Andre Ponder deserves to be held accountable. It was quite clear to me that the staff had plenty to say about the negative impacts.
The parents of students should also have a voice. The school board is supposed to answer to the public, not themselves. The whole demonstration showed the school board is absolutely worthless. There is no liability in doing a required evaluation. The only liability would have been in action taken against someone that resigned.
Mineral County deserves better and people should consider unseating them at the next election. If they don’t want to do the jobs they were elected to do, they shouldn’t be there.
