Mineral County School District has yet again submitted a budget to the State of Nevada without a single workgroup or committee meeting. I looked at similar districts and Mineral stands alone. I am curious as to why the administrative staff and crooked contractor operate this way.
One of the reasons to be non-transparent is it allows for public money to be buried within the pages. Dirty Diane Rodriguez is notorious for hiding money, crying poverty, then giving everyone an Oscar worthy performance of being shocked. The augmented for this year and the tentative budget for next year could be a best selling fiction.
The district will not end the year with only $385,000. Even implying that is downright absurd. The most recent bank balance shows that is not reality. The balance is at or above what it has been historically this time of year. The end result each time, a very healthy ending fund balance.
By ditching the transparency, Diane Rodriguez gets to shove hundreds in her purse rather than explain the budget. She knows full well that in previous budget meetings, people start to ask about actuals compared to the budget and she can’t answer that. She can’t answer it because would blow the cover of poverty that doesn’t actually exist.
The budget should be posted to the website, but as always that doesn’t ever happen. Instead, I had to obtain a copy from the state. According to the state, there is a budget hearing on May 17th. I will be watching to see if that is for the tentative, or if Diane is simply doing the paper shuffle dance. My guess is she has misrepresented what she id doing and if so, I certainly will be sending that documentation to the state as evidence of non-compliance.
