During the interview process, one brave employee spoke out about the financial gain of another in their endorsement of a potential candidate. It was something that I was grateful for. It showed the core value of doing the right thing, even when it is difficult.
The fact is that the person giving an endorsement received a benefit that no other employee received. Initially, it was fair and square because the state gave us dollars to pay for administrative licensure. That funding ended after one year. Despite my numerous attempts to cut further payments, Diane Rodriguez always had the back of a friend.
Diane Rodriguez, in one of her many unethical dealings, refused to let me notify the person that funding was no longer available. Because Diane Rodriguez had a close friendship with the person, she intentionally advocated and succeeded at depleting other funds to make the Admin licensure a reality for her faithful friend.
I was never opposed to growing my own. The problem, in this instance, was Diane Rodriguez REFUSED, and I mean absolutely refused to let me expand the opportunity equitably. It seemed highly unfair to allow a singular person to obtain a free admin credential but then expect me to turn my back to other people with interest. When this concern was brought to Andre Ponder and Hope Blinco’s attention, I was told to mind my business, and Diane Rodriguez knew best.
This corrupt and highly unethical stance likely caused one or more persons to not also obtain their Administrator license. There was more than one in a program, one got it 100% paid for due to Diane, and the other was expected to assume 100% of the cost. It still greatly bothers me.
To be fair, I have no knowledge that would indicate the person knew of the shady deal. I do not believe the person would intentionally gain an unfair advantage. It was Diane that was behind the scenes forcing the strings to be pulled.
To make this right ,the Mineral County School District should consider a more equitable means of allowing other candidates to obtain their credentials.
